I’m Emine – an award-winning editor, wellbeing author + creator of the weekly newsletter for mums who want more than the crumbs

A FEW crumbs about me…

Every story starts somewhere. Even in the thickest thicket of it. And here, in medias res or (rather less poetically) the messiness of middle-life, this is not what I expected it to be. I didn’t expect to arrive into my 40s-and-then-some feeling quite this lost… wrong-footed, tired, hungry.

I’ve always written. So as to reclaim the scraps of my day. To make the crusts and the crumbs mine, for if they’re all I get, I’ll make them count. But, most of all, I write because I know there are others like me, who are finding this hard. Who crave their creative time, the ‘room of one’s own’, the opportunity to raise themselves up and nourish themselves deeply, all the while raising kids – rising together, knit together, ever-together, in ways we wouldn’t change for the world.

So, join me on this journey. There’s a lot of nourishment to be had. Heart-on-the-sleeve long-form letters, sharing the truth of Motherhood, day by day – the ways in which it breaks and makes us – and the never-ending joy and journey of learning, one crumb at a time.

WeEKLY NOURISHMENT
– every sunday + 1st WEDS of the month

for mums who want more than the crumbs…

MOTHER NOURISH is a reader-supported community made for mums who want MORE THAN the CRUMBS. It’s honest, often raw but also hopeful, reflective + imperfect.

As a mum of a teenager and pre-teen, I thought at this point in my motherhood journey, I’d have most things figured out. Turns out I know less now than I ever did and parenting two wildly wonderful ND girls is as wild a ride as I could ever have imagined. It’s exhausting, brittling, stretching, testing, heartbreaking… and also joyful, hopeful, wonderful, surprising + heavenly (never all at once, and often far more of the former than the latter).

As a former award-winning wellbeing editor, author + eternal student of Ayurveda, Herbal Medicine + Yoga Therapy for Women, I’ve never needed every tool in my box as much as I do now. The kicker is, I find nowhere near enough time to take them out, dust them off and actually USE them. That’s why I started my Substack: MOTHER NOURISH – to hold myself accountable each + every week, and to stop demoting my own needs, time + energy.

Having written for free – via a monthly newsletter, blogs, social and even the odd unpaid feature in magazines and newspapers while I was cutting my teeth as a junior writer – this year I decided to move all of my creative output to one, integrated, paid-for space.

I’ll still send out the odd free letter to all of my subscribers, but to get the full Hot Buttered Toast version rather than the occasional Crumb, I’d recommend subscribing, for just £5/month.

Paid Subscribers receive:

A rich, wellbeing-infused, hot buttered slice of delicious nourishment in the form of a long-form letter, every Sunday at 8am. Aptly called HOT BUTTERED TOAST.

This is my chance to sing about the yummy glimmers of goodness available in the world around us (from inspiring podcasts & easy playlists to speedy one-pot wonders & nourishing poetry). Once a month, I’ll also add in my monthly Bedside Book List, curated for both Kids and Adults. From classics to contemporary releases, fiction, poetry, non-fiction and graphic novels, these are the books beloved by me and my wee clan, which keep us going back for second, third, fourth helpings.

This letter is also a way to document and share, honestly, my journey from a perpetual subsister on crumbs + burnt crusts (i.e. no space, time or energy for myself), to someone who increasingly finds ways to feed their own nourishment and wellbeing into their daily life.

As the former Health + Wellness Director of Psychologies magazine, I also love to share the things I have learned, tried and adopted (and adapted) that REALLY make a difference. From organic skincare or whole food supplements to movement practices and home-based rituals, these are the roots of nourishment, in my own home, with my family, as a full-time working mum of two.

+ my MONTHLY MORE THAN A CRUMB letter, which covers various aspects of mum + family life with two incredible, brilliant, neurodivergent kids. From home schooling learning curves to the most essential, practical + meaningful ways I’ve found to properly and sustainably nourish myself and my family (yep, we are multitudes), it’ll all come spilling into your Inbox on the first Wednesday of each month, ready for a read with a glass of wine or post-work cuppa (and if you’re like me, probably once the kids are tucked up in bed)…

Free Subscribers receive:

Occasional Crumbs (generous, yummy ones). These will arrive as + when they feel fitting, roughly once a month. You’ll also receive previews to Paid Posts, just in case something whets the appetite and you’d like to upgrade to the whole slice.

By subscribing you’ll also also be putting your money behind this work in a way that enables me to write more regularly, freely and openly – sharing stories that need to be heard, nourishment that needs to be shared, and helping to connect and uplift Mothers who are ready to live on more than the Crumbs!
